Lump sum funding is increasingly used in Horizon Europe to make the programme simpler by removing the need to report actual costs and reduce the financial error rate. It is meant to simplify the funding mechanism while all the main features of the research funding stay the same. However, the details are always important; simplification comes at a price, and these are the specific extra tasks and rules that everyone applying for lump sum funding should be aware of – both when writing a proposal and implementing a project.
The course deals with how you transform a research and innovation idea into an attractive EU-proposal. What you must write and advice on how you can structure and present your ideas. A practical exercise in evaluating a proposal helps to underline some important lessons. All participants are asked to bring their own PC/tablet.

It is easy to assume that all researchers are familiar with the European Research Council (ERC) grants for excellent researchers at all stages. This is however not entirely true. This is a short, very basic webinar for early stage and mature researchers who wants to know more about the grants offered to excellent researchers at all experience levels.
MSCA Doctoral Networks (DN) funds the training of PhD-students from around the globe. The network projects have a duration of four or five years and allow for training of up to 15 PhD-students for 36 months (in Joint Doctorates up to 48 months). The funding basically covers their salaries, as well as networking and training costs. Is this something of interest for you and your colleagues?

The Arctic region is vulnerable and at the same time an area of increasing economic interest and a critical component of the global climate system. Melting sea ice combined with technological advances opens the area for shipping routes, resource extraction and other human activities. Despite this, the Arctic remains one of the least observed and understood environments on earth. In this event at the 2024 Ocean Decade Conference in Barcelona we discuss what is the status, what are the challenges, and what are the ways forward?
