We have funding available for research and innovation projects and for building expertise and networks. Here is an overview of our most important funding schemes.
Innovation Projects for the Industrial Sector
Companies may apply for funding for projects that incorporate extensive R&D activities. An Innovation Project is to contribute significantly towards renewal and increased value creation for the companies participating in the project and for Norwegian trade and industry in general by making new knowledge and solutions available.
Industrial PhD
Under the Industrial PhD scheme, companies seeking to enhance their research and development activity may apply for funding for a doctoral project. The company collaborates with a university or university college, and the doctoral project must be of clear relevance to the company’s activities.
Demonstration Projects
Are to strengthen companies’ own efforts to demonstrate new technology for applications with major socio-economic benefits. Projects are to ensure expertise, value creation, job creation and a competitive industrial sector in Norway.
Commercialisation Project
Research organisations, Technology Transfer Offices and start-ups can apply for project funding for Qualification or Proof-of-Concept Projects. The projects must be based on promising research results that can contribute to developing new products, processes and services.
Knowledge-building and Collaboration Projects
Are for research groups working together with the business sector to generate relevant knowledge in various areas of importance to business and industry.
SkatteFUNN Tax Incentive Scheme
A tax deduction scheme for companies seeking to develop a new product, service or production process.
The Green Platform Initiative
This is a new scheme that provides funding for enterprises and research institutes engaged in green growth driven by research and innovation. We are looking for collaborative consortiums that can deliver the best projects, from research and technology development through to turnkey solutions.
Eurostars – for small and medium-sized enterprises
Norwegian small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that carry out research and development may seek funding for R&D projects from the Eurostars Programme. To be eligible for funding, projects must seek to develop new products, services or processes to be introduced to the market within two years of project completion, and must involve international collaboration. Funding is available in all branches of industry and may address any technological area.
