Portfolio for ground-breaking research

The portfolio covers long-term, basic research of the highest scientific quality, irrespective of discipline and topic. This research is in itself an important part of society's development and provides a broad knowledge preparedness and an important starting point for meeting societal challenges in the short and long term. The goal of the portfolio is to advance the research front and build Norwegian academic communities at a high international level. The board has an overall responsibility for professional development, both based on the distinctive nature of the disciplines and for meeting society's needs.
