Humanities and social sciences
The humanities and social sciences provide knowledge about how people and society interact, and the cultural framework within which this takes place. Based on insight into the preconditions for societal development, this research can give us an understanding of the possible spaces for action that lie in society and culture.

Portfolio plan
The portfolio plan describes investment objectives, planned activities and expected outcome and impact of the Research Council's total investment in the portfolio area.
Portfolio analysis
The portfolio analysis shall form a basis for portfolio plans, investment plans and reporting.
Investment plan
The investment plan shall provide an overview of the total calls for proposals and other activities planned with the use of the portfolio board's own funds.

The portfolio board is responsible for investment decisions within the humanities and social sciences for the Research Council’s funding scheme for independent projects (FRIPRO), as well as for providing scientific advisory services.
